Summer Term is here — and it's our most exciting one yet. Over 12 weeks, your child won't just be learning Spanish. They'll be travelling the Spanish-speaking world, discovering new cultures, making things with their hands, moving, singing, debating, and finishing the year as a genuine young linguist.
Here's a peek at the journey ahead:

Weeks 1 & 2 — ¡De Vacaciones! · Getting Around
We kick off summer with holidays and transport. Your child will learn how to talk about travel destinations, pack an imaginary suitcase in Spanish, and navigate the city — on foot, by bike, by metro. Practical, fun vocabulary they'll actually use.

Weeks 3 & 4 — The Hispanic City · Our Planet
From the plazas of Bogotá to the rivers of the Amazon, we explore city life and the natural world. Children give directions, visit markets and libraries in Spanish, and discover why protecting our planet matters — all through the lens of Latin American geography.

Weeks 5 & 6 — Music, Dance & Traditions
This is the week they come home buzzing. We dive into flamenco, cumbia, mariachi and salsa — children learn real dance steps, make their own percussion instruments, and explore La Tomatina, Día de los Muertos and the Carnaval de Barranquilla. Spanish culture is at its most colourful.

Weeks 7 & 8 — Food & Endangered Animals
Tacos, arepas, paella, ceviche — your child becomes a Spanish-speaking food expert. Then we turn to conservation: the jaguar, the pink Amazon dolphin, the Andean condor. Children create awareness posters that go up in school. Real learning with real impact.

Weeks 9 & 10 — Legends & Stories · Sports
Every culture has its stories. We explore El Dorado, the Maya origin of maize, and children create their own legends using story dice — entirely in Spanish. Then we lace up our boots for a mini-Olympics with instructions, commentary and celebrations 100% en español. Rafael Nadal and Nairo Quintana make a guest appearance.

Week 11 — Mi Mundo en Español
The big review. A quiz, a 5-minute Spanish-only challenge, and a collective mural of everything they've learned this year. Children also write a letter to their future selves — sealed in an envelope and returned by Mariposa next September. A beautiful moment.

Week 12 — 🎉 Fiesta de Fin de Curso
The grand finale. A talent show, their favourite songs of the year, a piñata, and the Diploma Ceremony — where every child is recognised for something specific and wonderful about their learning journey. A day to remember.

The Summer Term Fiesta and Diploma Ceremony marks the end of the year, but also the start of something. Children who complete this term carry 300–400 words of real Spanish into secondary school — the strongest possible foundation for the years ahead.
